Quota International Geelong is proud to nominate Joyce Monk as Volunteer of the Year.
Joyce firstly joined South Barwon Quota Club in October 1979, continuing withGeelongwhen the two clubs amalgamated. She served as President for two terms, as treasurer for two terms and on various fund-raising committees.
In particular Joyce has competently chaired the committee for Geelong’s Annual Trivia Night which has successfully raised large funds for many local disadvantaged groups. Joyce edits a monthly Newsletter keeping members informed on all aspects of Quota and its members.
Her Community Service includes 15 years as a volunteer guide at theGeelongNationalWoolMuseumwhich is ongoing. Twelve years as a volunteer with the Geelong Scout Heritage Centre which is also ongoing. Joyce is a Family Aid volunteer child support for City ofGreater Geelong. She is a Committee member for the East Timor support group for Geelong sister club of Viqueque (East Timor) also a Foundation member Past President and current member of Highton Ladies Probus Club.
Joyce was born to a farming family in Kyabram, Northern Victoria educated in the local State school before moving toMelbourneand completing schooling at King St. WestMelbourne. She worked in the family businesses before meeting and marrying Graham then moving to Geelong in 1954 Joyce has two children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her hobbies are reading historical books, Archaeology particularly Egyptian, painting and gardening
Joyce embodies the true spirit of an exceptional Quotarian and volunteerism with over thirty years’ participation and leadership in all events held by Quota International Geelong.
