QI Camden Haven, NSW, Australia
Yvonne Fisher, a retired school Principal, has been a member of Quota for over 50 years and held office in every position. Quota forms a special part of her life for its service projects, ideals and friendships.
Yvonne’s commitment to the Camden Haven is evidenced by her involvement in twelve local groups, three Life Memberships and Patronage of two groups and her continuing active participation in these and other community organisations.
By Yvonne’s involvement and philanthropy our community has a Neighbourhood Centre, successful Music Festival, a thriving Garden Club and Arts Council which has featured many quality international performers.
Riding for the Disabled, Kendall inspired Yvonne to support its initiatives after seeing the difference it made to disabled young people. Since then Yvonne has sponsored “Quota’s Gift”, “Bindi”, “Bella” and other horses over the years by providing for horse care, feed and running costs.
Yvonne has been a great contributor to many through the Laurieton Uniting Church, not only through pastoral care, but by increasing church resources such as a Piano for worship services, a photo copier, and new hymn books for the congregation.
Yvonne was a charter member of Camden Haven Ladies Probus Club and served as president. She joined the Camden Haven Adult Education/ Community College and its “Tuesday group”, a discussion and social group for women. Yvonne has maintained her donations to, and membership of the Camden Haven Historical Society and the Laurieton United Services Travel Club, where she reflects what a privilege it is to be Australian. Yvonne was among the initiators of a campaign to improve and increase medical services in the local area.
Yvonne, an eminent volunteer, is a vital part of our community organisation, and has initiated and supported change, growth and improvement in our local area over many years.
