Quota International of Taree, NSW, Australia
Taree is delighted to nominate Quotarian Dawn Beer as Quota Volunteer of the year 2013.
Dawn grew up volunteering in the church as a young girl and a young mother. Volunteering comes naturally. Her main interests were always with children in kids club and Sunday School. Always helping and working for the benefit of others. She is a very kind and caring lady. Married to Herb she supports him in his Rotary service.
Dawn joined Taree Quota in 2003. She immediately became totally committed to Quota’s service. Treasurer 2years, 1st Vice President, President and 2 years as Chairman Speech and Hearing and Disadvantaged women and children. At present she is 28th District Secretary / Treasurer. She has knitted and encouraged members to knit bonnets and bootees for premature babies at the Hospital. Hearing Awareness week was a huge success, and recently organized a very successful function for Loud Shirt Day. Since her retirement in 2006 she has worked voluntarily in Quota’s name at Taree West Primary School two days a week as a classroom assistant. Dawn loves the children and they love her. She goes far beyond the call of duty at the school.
Dawn is a very silent achiever always visiting people who are lonely or sick and carrying out all manner of tasks to help them. Every four to six weeks Dawn does a litter clean up on the side of the road in her area.
She has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. A hands-on Nana to two.
Her dedication to Quota and it’s projects is why we are proud to nominate Dawn as Taree Quota Club’s Volunteer of the year 2013.
