Quota International of Broken Hill, Inc., New South Wales, Australia
Marj joined Quota in 1975 and for over thirty years actively served on the fundraising committee. She is very proud of the “Bride of the Year” the many debutante balls and fashion parades held over the decades which were wonderful fundraisers for our club, also she was a driving force on Quota’s behalf helping with the organization of a mental health forum held in our city, involved in the Dr. Veronica James Science Challenge for Hearing Impaired Children, these being among a few of her achievements. Marj held the position of president on eight occasions and also served as secretary.
Marj has been an active volunteer in our community for 51 years. In 1991 Marj became involved with Lifeline and sat on the board, later became treasurer and chairperson. Marj enjoyed her involvement in the Lifeline Toy Run which is held every year just prior to Christmas. Toys are donated to Lifeline and then distributed to children in need, it is truly a wonderful community event. In 2011 over 400 children in our area received presents and Marj relates that it was wonderful to see their smiles and the families able to enjoy laughter and cheer in the spirit of Christmas. After 21 years with Lifeline Marj retired in September 2012 but continues to help in any way she can.
Marj has been presented with an award for outstanding service to Lifeline, a citizenship award from our local council and was inducted into their hall of fame for a lifetime of volunteer service to our community. In 2005 Marj received the Rotary International Centennial Award for Professional Excellence.
Our club has chosen to enter Marjorie Dinham as she is truely a wonderful ambassador and volunteer to not only our club and community but to the Quota world.
