2012-2013 International President Laura Lahman
December 11, 2012
My Fellow Quotarians,
I wanted to provide you with an update since my November 7, 2012, announcement of Executive Director Kathleen Treiber’s plan to retire on April 30, 2013.
As I mentioned in my November message, a search committee was being organized to select Kathleen’s replacement. I am pleased to announce that the selection committee is in place and is comprised of President-elect Karen Murphy, East Area Director Michelle Fryling, Past International President Chris Tracey-Patte, as well as myself, as the chairperson of the committee.
The committee has contracted with American Society of Association Executive’s CareerHQ.org, a division of ASAE Business Services, Inc., with offices in Washington, D.C., to assist us in recruiting and hiring our next Executive Director. Our plan and timeline is to interview prospective candidates the week of February 11, 2013, prior to the board meeting, and to make an offer after sharing our recommendation with the 2012-2013 Board of Directors. In order to ensure a seamless transition, the plan is to have our new Executive Director in place April 1, 2013, allowing a 30-day transition period. The committee recognizes that this is an aggressive schedule, however each of us on the committee is highly motivated and committed to this plan.
At this time, I would like to personally invite you to attend a retirement banquet in honor of Executive Director Kathleen. The dinner banquet will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Washington D.C., at the Embassy Suites Hotel at the Chevy Chase Pavilion. Register for the dinner using this form. Dinner reservations must be received by headquarters no later than January 15. While hotel information is also included on the form, please reserve your room online directly with the hotel or by telephoning the hotel at 202-362-9300 by January 15. You will need Quota’s room rate code of QTA to receive our special rate. I know that many of you will not be able to attend due to the distance or other conflicts, but I wanted to extend the invitation just the same. After all, Quota is a family and everyone should have the opportunity to attend this wonderful celebration of a glorious career!
Many members have asked me, as well as other board members, if we are planning to do something special for Kathleen as you would like to contribute. The answer is a resounding, YES! The board has established a special way for you to honor Kathleen—Kathleen’s Keepsakes—as a way to honor her significant contributions to our beloved organization for almost 30 years. If you, your club, your district, and/or your area would like to contribute and honor Kathleen in this very special way, click here for a donation form. All donations will be credited to the donor’s Stepping Stone account and will go towards your choice of the Wanda Frey Joiner Development Fund or the We Share Foundation.
I wish each of you a happy and healthy New Year. Of course I would be remiss if I were not to mention that I hope your New Year’s resolution includes organizing a new club, rewarding your club with five new members, and/or mentoring a JQ club! It is in this way that Quota International grows FORWARD and will experience a wonderfully healthy and prosperous new year.
With kindest regards,
2012-2013 International President
