Quota International of Andover Announces its 2013 Volunteer of the Year
Marie Flynn, of Andover, was recently named the Quota International Volunteer of the Year by her Andover Club. She has been an active member since 2002.
Tish Bachmann, President of the Club and last year’s recipient made the formal presentation as the Merit Award winner leading up to the International recognition. “I went to the dictionary for the actual definition of merit: “To be worthy or deserving, demonstrated ability, and aspect of character deserving approval.” Marie is all of that, said Ms. Bachmann. “She brings to life the Quota Collect that we recite at the beginning of our meetings. She demonstrates our collect by always showing us the true meaning of friendship.”
Her ability to open our minds to a better understanding of service is when she comes up with simple ways for the Club to help, such as donating books to an organization, or passing along a service project that she read about that Quota could help out with, and always willing to do the pick-up and drop off of the item to make life easy for all. Marie never misses the Holiday Nursing home visits, and the children at the library for Story Hour. She is a great ambassador for Quota.
With character deserving approval, you will not find a kinder hearted person, a caring person, always there with positive support, never refusing to help out as long as she can stay behind the scenes. She often will volunteer to greet members at our events, and has been representing Quota at the Andover Know your Town event on Main Street.
