Quota International of Bathurst, NSW, Australia

Noelene joined Quota International in 1958. She has served on all Bathurst executive positions, and from 1998-2000 was Lieutenant Governor for District 26 and Governor from 2000-2002, and again in 2006-2008.

Noelene was named Quotarian of the Year for 1977/8. Noelene is very passionate about the weekly volunteer Quocka Reading Program, aimed to increase children’s literacy levels and encourage a love of books. She has worked tirelessly to get the initiative off the ground, through securing sponsorships, engaging local Police Officers and building a team of volunteer readers. Quocka is now in four local schools (including Carenne – for young children with special needs). Quota provides the books for the children and the school Library. Quocka has been a win-win for all concerned, and certainly got our name out into the community.

Noelene has just been acknowledged for her dedicated commitment to community service by the Department of Primary Industries Hidden Treasures Honour Roll 2012 to acknowledge not only her contributions to Quota but to her community. Noelene is indeed a Hidden Treasure and a worthy recipient of the Quota Volunteer of the Year Award.
