Quota International of Liverpool, NSW, Australia

Someone who defines a true Quotarian and a great volunteer is Lorraine Perry who is Liverpool’s nomination for Volunteer of the Year for 2013.

Lorraine joined on 7 May 1975 and having served in all Club Offices including President on 4 occasions; District Secretary on 2 occasions; chaired or served on most District Committees, been editor of 35 District Newsletter for the last 8 years Lorraine has now put her hand up to serve District 35 as Lt. Governor for 2012/13 and Governor for 2013/14.

Every service activity or fund raising event held by Liverpool members includes Lorraine e.g. modelling at our fashion parades, serving on our monthly fund raising barbecue roster or serving on the weekly Red Cross breakfast roster at a local Primary school. Lorraine spends many hours knitting for the premature nursery at the local hospital or crocheting linen hankies which she sells on behalf of the Club to add to our fund raising coffers.  As well she is the first person to volunteer to represent the Club at local functions.  In 2011 Lorraine was recgonised by Liverpool Council when she received the Commander of the Order of Liverpool Award Gold medal (the highest annual award offered by our local Council).

Outside of Quota Lorraine works 3 days a week at the NAB where she is involved with their charity support, e.g. assisting with fund raising for Westmead Children’s Hospital, Lifeline, Ovarian Cancer Research and attends a centre for intellectually disabled adults. Her two days off work are spent volunteering on the local JP Community desk and serving as Secretary of the Liverpool Branch of the NSW Justice Association.

Lorraine is married to Kevin, has 3 children, 7 grand children and 5 great grand children. She is the life and soul of any party with her joke telling, singing and dancing – recognised when she won the District’s Party Animal of the Year trophy.

Dedication, involvement and support of Quota and its projects is why we are nominating Lorraine as our Volunteer for 2013.
