Clay Mitchell, September Y.E.S. Kid!

Our monthly Y.E.S. award-winning kid! Eleven year old Clay was nominated by his teacher, Shirley Hardman. She told us that Clay noticed that the upper elementary boys were getting into trouble during recess because there was nothing for them to do. He wrote the principal suggesting a basketball court would solve this problem. She agreed, but had no money in the budget. He wrote a business plan, contacted local businesses, the governor, NBA players and fired up his classmates. He organized a "basketball bazaar" to raise money and approached the PTO for help. He called contractors for quotes, and never gave up. Thanks to Clay, Woolmarket Elementary School now has a basketball court! To read more about the Y.E.S. program, visit: http://www.quotams.com
