The Awakening With QUOTA (part 1 of 2)

Quota International of Manila

The Awakening With QUOTA

Irma Torres

Sometime in January of 2005, I was invited by my client-friend Ms. Sundri Daswani (QIM’s 2012 Volunteer of the Year) to Quota’s Fellowship as guest. That Fellowship was in a way special because it was held to coincide with the Governor’s Visit, then Gov. Lea ‘Liit’ Celis alongside her district team. At the end of the Governor’s Time, Ms. Sundri nudged me and asked whether I wanted to join the Club as ‘’Gov will induct new members now.’’ I said Yes although, honestly, at the back of my mind I was pretty unsure! How time flies! That was almost seven years ago. In March 2011, after serving four (4) consecutive terms as Recording Secretary, I begged to be excused from the Board owing to my compelling personal agenda. As far as Quota International of Manila was concerned, I felt it was time to move up to another plateau …. it was very clear to me that I wanted to go beyond transcribing minutes of meetings!
