Quota International of Beckley, WV, USA
Karen Reed exemplifies the Quota motto “We Share”. As a thirty year member of Quota International of Beckley, her enthusiastic participation in our service, fundraising and social events Karen has made each one a special occasion. She uses her talents to improve the lives of those we serve as well as her fellow Quota members.
Karen has served four terms as club president. She chairs many Beckley Quota service projects. She shops, wraps and delivers the gifts for our Christmas family. She chaired the committee that raised funds for the homeless shelter kitchen extreme makeover. She worked with the shelter for battered women to adopt two bedrooms that the club decorated and maintains. She is liaison with a residence for troubled teens where the club delivers a gift and cake on each child’s birthday.
Karen has used her love of entertaining to provide food and tablescapes for many fundraising events including our recent March service project to fund a therapy dog for the local Hospice facility. She prepares all the food for the concession for our 5K Longerberger baskets fundraiser. She shares her talent, her equipment and her own resources to make these fundraisers a success. A highlight of our club year is the Mother’s Day dinner that she plans and we serve to the women (and men) at the Pinehaven Homeless Shelter. That event is made more special with gifts for the women and decorated tables.
We salute Beckley Quota’s nominee, Karen Reed!
