Waterloo, Iowa, USA
Eileen Gunderson joined Quota International of Waterloo in 2005. At the time she was senior accountant for Cedar Valley Corp. and has since retired. Eileen has been active in Quota since “day one”. While serving as our secretary for several years, she is also on the Cops-N-Kids and Hearing Impaired Committees. For Cops-N-Kids she regularly attends our book give-aways and has volunteered to mentor and read to children at the Boys and Girls Club. Eileen took initiative with the Hearing Committee to buy and distribute earplugs.
Eileen is very committed to our nut fund-raising project, devoting countless hours to unloading, bagging, and selling nuts. She attends district conference, and also Quota Girls Gone Wild Weekend roadtrip every fall. Eileen is currently co-chairing our next District 7 Conference and can always be depended upon to keep us organized and on track. Within the club, Eileen has organized a girl\’s night out theater performance. When the club decided it was time to have our own website, Eileen took the lead. Because of her computer savvy, she now can be counted on to take pictures and monitor the site to make sure everything is current and accurate.
On a personal note, Eileen is a cancer survivor, widow, speed walker and active bicycler. When raising three sons, she was a Boy Scout Troop leader. Her 95 year old mother lives next door, and Eileen takes primary responsibility for her care. Eileen loves ushering for the local performing arts center and her newest volunteer effort is tax preparation through the RSVP program.
We are proud to honor Eileen Gunderson as our Volunteer of the Year. Her quiet thoughfulness, encouraging spirit, organizational skills and dependability are a wonderful asset to our club and the community. We are happy to call her our friend!
