Malnutrition Assistance for Deaf Children

QI of Iloilo’s nutrition project for deaf children has been very successful since its inception in June. Malnutrition is a serious problem at the Leganes Resource Center for the Deaf as many of the students come from families whose income barely allows them to buy food. Iloilo Quotarians recognize that malnutrition leads to underperformance in school, so they organize volunteer parents and club members to prepare and cook meals for students. The nutrition is helping! Last month, in celebration of Deaf Awareness Week, LRCD students won several awards in the Quiz Bee and Sign Song Contest at a regional special education competition and at the Sportsfest of Disabled Persons. LRCD is champion at the Sign Song Contest. To learn more about this Hand-in-Hand World Service Project of the Iloilo club, click here.
