Quota International of Manila South
QI of Manila South’s Club to Club Committee spearheaded the Sagip Tenga (Save the Ears) Medical Mission Project at the Philippine School for the Deaf last July 31, 2011. Students and their relatives totaling 600+ braved the storm to avail of free medical check-ups. Ear cleaning particularly for those with impacted cerumen were performed, while family members took advantage of the complimentary audiometric testing. 400 Flu Vaccinations were given to those who had pre-registered. Medicines were distributed to all the patients as soon as they concluded their tests. Donations received from a pharmaceutical sponsor, a special donor and clubs world-wide (those who donated to QIMS) made the availability of medicines possible. Nation-wide television- ABS-CBN Studio 23- covered the event. This was a very positive outcome, publicizing the work of Quota. On hand, lending their valuable time and expertise, were 11 Doctors, 10 nurses, 2 audiologists, and 27 teachers/interpreters. At day’s end, after learning more about Quota, almost everyone offered their services again for another Mission. Furthermore, a friend who attended to lend a helping hand, decided to join QI of Manila South!
