Did You Know that Super Heroes Read?

"Socks N. Pockets" & Sidekicks

"Socks N. Pockets" (a character created by QI MS Gulf Coast) officially kicked off Coast libraries' summer reading programs with a "Super Hero" program. Children learned that reading can turn them into "Super Heroes", and heard stories about various countries where Quota clubs are. They particularly loved the stuffed animals and stories from Australia! They took turns "picking Socks pockets" looking for letters that turned into "Dangerous Defender" and "Puppy Protector". Socks also demonstrated how some books can teach us how to turn paper into a bird (oragami) and some books can sing "Silly Dilly Songs". As a parting gift, each child received a personal bookmark, emblazoned with the Quota logo, a photo of Socks, and of course… Gumbo. The program is so popular, SNP is booked for 5 other appearances, including Barnes & Noble Super Store in Gulfport.
