This month marks the 35th anniversary of an ongoing and favorite service project of the Port Huron Quota club in Michigan, U.S.A. The annual tea party at a local senior center brings Quota fellowship and fun along with tasty treats to some very special guests.
“Many of the residents are former Quotarians who have retired and enjoy reminiscing about Quota and the projects they did when they were members,” says member and event chair Elizabeth King.
Quota volunteers prepare a bountiful spread of cheese, fruit, and sweets to pamper attendees. “The unique and gratifying part of the party is that we get to serve the guests individually and socialize with them. It has turned out to be a wonderful opportunity for our newest members to see first-hand what Quota service and caring is all about,” adds Elizabeth.
The Marydale Center provides affordable housing to adults, 55 years old and older, as well as three home-cooked meals per day, light housekeeping, utilities, cable television, social activities, and a caring staff to attend to the needs of residents.
