Papakura Quotarians Offer Haven to Treasure Hunters

If you’re hunting for that rare item or generally just love antiquing, then the Papakura Quota club’s antique fair is the place to be. With dealers from all over New Zealand renting floor space, bargain hunters are presented with a treasure trove. Last year the Quota members raised over $14,000 to benefit all age groups of their community. During their weekend-long fair the group also held a raffle, which raised $2,700. The beneficiaries of the money were: Age Concern, which aids senior citizens; Auckland University audiology students; and Specific Learning Disabilities Federation, which helps children with specific learning difficulties.

The three-day event takes a lot of organization. From the Friday night wine and cheese preview to the posters, banners, and refreshment stand, the Quota club relies on its many volunteers to sponsor the event. Antique fairs are quite popular, and they are even more so when the attendees know that the money raised goes to such worthy causes. So treasure hunters…be on the lookout for the club’s next antique fair!
