2009 Photo Contest Entry

Quota International of Davao City

Thanks to the relentless work of the QI of Davao City members for the past five years, as of April 2009, Davao City passed an ordinance that mandated universal hearing screening for all babies born in Davao City. With this ordinance, all babies will now be screened prior to discharge from any hospital or birth center in the city. This resulted from the efforts of QI of Davao City at raising community awareness on the importance of hearing screening through continuing education programs and free hearing screening at schools and communities. Through their work, the Davao City Quotarians have pioneered a lasting and continuing program that has a great impact and benefit to our community. In addition, Quota International of Davao City members continue to work hard to identify hearing impaired people, provide means of hearing habilitation, and help children develop normal speech and language.
