Lina Gioello — QI Coral Springs/Parkland , Florida
Date of Death: November 24, 2009
It is said that “only the good die young” and so it is with our dear member, Lina Gioello, who passed away at the age of 52. Lina was a mother, daughter, sister and to so many, a wonderful and cherished friend. We remember her as an artist, perfectionist, animal lover, and advocate for the deaf and overall humanitarian. Lina was intelligent, fun, had a wonderful sense of humor, and knew how to make an entrance! She was a special lady and we loved her! Lina designed our club logo in 2002 when we chartered! On our 1st birthday, Lina thought we should create our own award, so she presented our club with a special “Best Club Award!” On our 2nd birthday, she presented us with the “Terrible Two’s” award! We laughed until we cried! Only our Lina would think to do the outrageous! She designed a “May is Better Speech and Hearing Month” pin that we gave to all the members in our District and are still selling at various Quota meetings. Lina was our scholarship chairperson for several years! In 2003, our club nominated Lina as our Volunteer of the Year. Lina made the decision to dedicate her time as an advocate for children when she required the assistance of an advocate for her deaf son. Lina learned everything about the system, in order to be able to give back to other children and parents in similar situations. She was not only knowledgeable about the laws, policies and procedures, but she understood how the school system worked. She was awesome! Although her passing is difficult to understand and accept, our hearts are filled with thanksgiving for having had Lina as part of our Quota family. We continue to pray for her family and Lina as she takes this next journey.
