Patricia (Pat) Walsh — Member-at-Large
Date of Death: March 24, 2009
Pat Walsh, a Member at Large, Friend of Quota, and Past South Pacific Area Director, passed away on March 24th, 2009. Pat joined the Quota Club of Cowra as a charter member in 1956 and served in all club executive positions and as Governor of District 31 in 1969-70. When she retired as Director of Nursing at the Cowra Hospital she moved to Sydney and in 1983 transferred to the Quota Club of Ryde where she remained until that club's recent dissolution. In 1977, Pat Walsh was the fourth South Pacific Area Director to be elected to the International Board of Directors, and prior to the Quota International Convention held in Sydney in 1980 – the first held outside the North American continent with an attendance of 1,100, Pat was asked by the Executive Director of the time, Dora Lee Haynes, to co-ordinate the meeting in Sydney – a monumentally difficult task, but with the help of many it was a very successful meeting. Previously, Pat had been the chairman of the Combined Conference of Australian Clubs in 1971 in Canberra – the forerunner of area meetings. In the early days of her Quota "life", Pat's commitment was to serve country and community, but throughout her 53 years of membership, she directed her time, skills and finances to the dedication of Quota's values and ideals. She was one of Australia's Quota "Trailblazers".
